Disguised competition

Better disguised forms of competition minimize retaliation. Girls use complex verbal and non-verbal tactics and physical movements that appear non-competitive on the surface.

By age 3, girls far more than boys emphasize their caring and egalitarian natures, and ‘niceness’, which means concealing their goals.
