да уж... что тут скажешь? в свое время где-то я прочел "Тюрьму" и "Поезд из Венеции", помню уже почти 40 лет. The Strangers in the House - из этой серии, хотя поначалу кажется, что детективная линия все заслоняет. нет. под конец обнаруживается настоящий Сименон. как и Patrick Hamilton - недооцененный. ну да еще и антисемит:

переводы на русский - лучше, чем на английский. и лишний раз подтверждается: Главлит выбирал со знанием дела что переводить и печатать.
