две самых скучных передачи на npr - Selected Shorts и Prairie Home Companion. то есть там хватает скучных, но эти две - особенно выделяются. рассказы в Selected Shorts подбирают исключительно бездарные.

ззато на Radiolab сегодня интересно рассказывали про emergence, начали с синхронно мигающих светлячков: оказывается в Юго-Восточной Азии десятки тысяч светлячков собираются на деревьях и мигают синхронно, причем на всех деревьях сразу, даже отстоящих далеко друг от друга (There is No Lord of the (Fire)Flies).

а потом - про муравьев и мозг, про то, что у каждого отдельного муравья нет плана возводимого ими сооружения, но каким-то образом в результате их совместной деятельности возникают сложные структуры. они там проводят прямую аналогию с работой мозга. и про сознание, и про экономику, и про Google - много интересного.

и еще Emergence by one Steven Johnson не знаю кто такой.
