So it could be that some sort of self-deceptive positivity (e.g., chutzpah) is behind the difference, or that in rating their own personality Jews and gentiles use different reference groups. Either of these alternative interpretations would also be interesting. However, there are reasons to believe that the GFP reflects social effectiveness, and that Jews are especially socially effective.

Так, всякий опрос мнений предполагает, что все люди могут иметь мнение или, иначе говоря, что производство мнения доступно всем. Этот первый постулат я оспорю, рискуя задеть чьи-то наивно демократические чувства. Второй постулат предполагает, будто все мнения значимы. Я считаю возможным доказать, что это вовсе не так, и что факт суммирования мнений, имеющих отнюдь не одну и ту же реальную силу, ведет к производству лишенных смысла артефактов.

Третий постулат проявляется скрыто: тот простой факт, что всем задается один и тот же вопрос, предполагает гипотезу о существовании консенсуса в отношении проблематики, то есть согласия, что вопросы заслуживают быть заданными. Эти три постулата предопределяют, на мой взгляд, целую серию деформаций, которые обнаруживаются, даже если строго выполнены все методологические требования в ходе сбора и анализа данных.
