tirra-lirra

The Virgin and the Gypsy -

Its a song from Canterbury Tales, referring to some man dancing and tumbling in the hay with his so called aunts who are not aunts but whores actually. In 'The Lady of Shalott' its put in to demonstrate the sexual frustration of the lady. Its being sung by Sir Lancelot who was a knight of the round table in Arthurian Legends. While his life can be seen as sexually fulfilling the lady's life is that of deprivation.
первая ссылка в google - Tirra Lirra by the River, которая входит в список 200 best novels in English since 1950.
