OTD in 1918, the abdication of the German throne by Kaiser Wilhelm II was announced by German Chancellor, Prince Maximilian of Baden. The Kaiser's end was insisted on by US President Wilson, one of his many disastrous ideas...the Weimar republic would follow @GrayConnollysome comments:
